Privacy Policy

Towach (towach.com, “we”) is an independent, US-based project. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: Towach has no accounts and never asks for your name, email, or payment details. Your identity here is a random, anonymous ID.

What we collect

• An anonymous session cookie. A cookie named towach_session holds a random ID (kept for up to one year) so the feed can remember your taste between visits. It contains no personal information and is not linked to any.
• Interaction signals.Tied to that anonymous ID, we record how you use the feed: the moods you pick, titles you heart, skip, or replay, roughly how long you watch each trailer, and when you tap “Watch this.” This is what powers the recommendations.
• On-device preferences.Your current mood and whether you've seen the intro animation are kept in your browser's session storage. They never leave your device.
• Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand overall usage (page views, mood picks, watch clicks). Google sets its own cookies and receives standard device information (such as IP address and browser type) under Google's privacy policy.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard, short-lived request logs (IP address, user agent) for security and operations.

What we don't collect

• No names, emails, or accounts.
• No payment information — purchases happen on Amazon, not here.
• No precise location, contacts, or sensitive categories of data.
• We do not sell or rent any data, to anyone.

How we use it

• To pick and rank the trailers your mood feed shows you.
• To understand which features work and improve the product.
• To keep the service secure and running.

Third-party services

• Vercel hosts the site; Neon stores the anonymous session and signal data. Both process data on our behalf in the United States.
• YouTubeplays the trailers. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, but when a trailer plays, YouTube/Google may collect data under their own policies.
• Amazon— “Watch this” links go to Amazon with our affiliate tag. Once you're on Amazon, their privacy policy applies. Amazon may attribute purchases to that link; we only ever see aggregate, anonymous reporting.
• TMDB supplies the movie and series catalog. No data about you is ever sent to TMDB.

Retention & your choices

• Session and signal data is kept while it's useful for recommendations. Clearing your cookies gives you a completely fresh, unlinked identity at any time.
• You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out tool. The feed works fine without analytics cookies.

Children

Towach is not directed to children under 13, and we knowingly collect no personal information from anyone, children included.

Where data lives

Towach is operated from the United States and data is processed there. If you visit from elsewhere, you're trusting us with remarkably little — an anonymous ID and some swipes.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated effective date.
